Volunteer Opportunities - "Service Above Self"
The Literacy Cooperative
This year our foundation approved a grant for $2,500 to support The Literacy Cooperative and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.  Books that get mailed to children that have moved, do not get forwarded, they end up at the US postoffice and get thrown away.  This initiative saves the book, by picking them up and pretreating them for distribution across our community.
Join us for a peeling party!!
St. Augustine Community Cupboard
Due to a volunteer shortage they are now only open 1x per week, allowing those in need to receive 15 personal & food items, and 15 clothing items in 2 separate rooms.  The volunteers help with greeting, checking in & out, and navigating the crowd, carrying items for those who need help, sanitizing the grocery baskets used, and stocking shelves, etc.

You can volunteer for as little or as long as you wish - We just want volunteers!

American Red Cross Blood Donor Day, April 18, 2024
The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage
  • The nation faces the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years. Blood and platelet donations are needed now to help alleviate the shortage and ensure lifesaving medical procedures are not delayed.
  • Over the last 20 years, the number of people donating blood to the Red Cross has fallen by more than 40%.
  • Additional challenges lie ahead as winter weather and seasonal illnesses like the flu and COVID-19 may compound the dire blood supply situation the nation currently faces.
  • Blood products are currently going to hospitals faster than blood donations are coming in. In recent weeks, the Red Cross has had to limit distributions of some of the most transfused blood types to hospitals.
  • Make an appointment to give blood or platelets now by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visitingRedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Karpinski Engineering (3135 Euclid Ave, CLE 44115) will be holding a blood drive Wednesday March 13th from 9:00 - 3:00 p.m., if this time and place works better, all are welcome!
