U.S. Navy Expeditionary Combat Command
CAPT Michael “OJ” McGlynn enlisted in the Navy in January 1992 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Orlando. He graduated from Naval Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Prototype Training Unit - Ballston Spa before receiving his first fleet assignment to USS SEAHORSE (SSN 669) at Naval Submarine Base Charleston. After decommissioning the USS SEAHORSE, he joined USS HENRY M. JACKSON (SSBN 730-Gold); was subsequently selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program and attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Additionally, he attended the Naval War College and Joint Staff College earning JPME Phase I/II qualifications and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.
He completed initial flight and E-2 Hawkeye training and earned his wings of gold on September 14, 2001. His initial operational assignment was to the VAW-121 BLUETAILS deploying aboard USS JOHN F KENNEDY (CV 67) and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. After a flight instructor tour at VAW-120, he rejoined the operational E-2 Fleet with the VAW-124 BEAR ACES in February 2010 deploying aboard USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77) on her maiden deployment in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NEW DAWN. He returned to VAW-121 as the Commanding Officer flying the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye on deployments aboard USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) and USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72) supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
His staff tours include assignments to United States Fleet Forces Command and United States Second Fleet serving as Aide to the Deputy Commander and the Commander respectively. At the Joint Staff he served as the Joint Fires and Maneuver analyst for the Joint Coalition Operational Analysis Division. Upon competing is command tour, he was assigned to the Carrier Strike Group TWELVE staff as the Flag Operations/Plans (N3/N5) Officer.
CAPT McGlynn has over 500 arrested aircraft carrier landings and accumulated over 3,000 flight hours. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, the Strike/Flight Air Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal as well as other individual, unit and campaign awards.
Both the International Service and Vocational Service Committee's will meet at 1:00 p.m following our regular meeting.

Ways to engage in National Literacy Day - September 8th
Join us for the dedication of our newest Little Free Library at Cuyahoga Community College Metro Campus. We will gather at 2pm on Friday, September 8th in the lobby of the Metro Sciences and Health Careers building. The lot 2 parking entrance is at 2900 Community College Drive.
Operation Comic Book’s website is a free comic book for ALL to read.
This comic book contains magic which, upon reading it, gives the reader super abilities. This free issue also provides tips on how to use your powers and tools to gain additional abilities. The Operation Comic Book website will Count & Collect all reads of the book which will be pledged to the overall efforts of the Cleveland & Cuyahoga Reads Challenges. We hope to unite all of our community literacy champions, rally around the free comic book and promote literacy across the land. We have until December 31st to reach our pledge goal of 1 million reads. Help us keep literacy alive in the Land. Click, Read, Share.
