Charlotte Morgan

Charlotte Morgan is a longtime journalist and educator. Born and raised in Cleveland, she is a graduate of Cleveland State University, where she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English. She is a resident of Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood. As a journalist, she has been published for more than 35 years, with her most recent work appearing in Freshwater Cleveland, Literary Cleveland Anthologies, and the Land.

Today, she is a firm believer in Community Journalism as an antidote to gatekeeping. As a curriculum developer, she has created Community Journalism programs for Freshwater Cleveland, the Land, Planet Detroit, and Cuyahoga Community College. Next spring, she will be teaching Community Journalism at Ursuline College. Her teaching pedagogy is: Today is not like yesterday, and a critical thinker wonders why this is so.

Morgan has taught at Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University, and Literary Cleveland, as well as at the Cleveland Public Library and the Cuyahoga County Public Library. As a writer, she is enthusiastic about nonfiction storytelling and place-based writing. Her debut memoir, Glenville: My Side of Paradise, set to be published by Wade Park Publishing, LLC later this year, explores her experiences growing up in the historic Glenville neighborhood of northeast Cleveland—the birthplace of both the iconic character Superman and the film character Superfly.

American Red Cross Blood Donor Day, October 3, 2024
The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage
  • The nation faces the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years. Blood and platelet donations are needed now to help alleviate the shortage and ensure lifesaving medical procedures are not delayed.
  • Over the last 20 years, the number of people donating blood to the Red Cross has fallen by more than 40%.
  • Additional challenges lie ahead as winter weather and seasonal illnesses like the flu and COVID-19 may compound the dire blood supply situation the nation currently faces.
  • Blood products are currently going to hospitals faster than blood donations are coming in. In recent weeks, the Red Cross has had to limit distributions of some of the most transfused blood types to hospitals.
  • Make an appointment to give blood or platelets now by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visitingRedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
