Join our CLE BEE Team Today - Event is September 11th at Windows on the River and doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Our club has sponsored a team for the Literacy Cooperative's CLE BEE, an adult spelling bee.  Teams are comprised of three people who work together to spell the words so no one person is under the spotlight. Answers are written and not given verbally (this is how it differs from the Scripps bee), teams write their answers on a whiteboard and reveal them before the time is up. All teams will compete in a preliminary round against 5-6 other teams. The top team from each round moves to the finals. Teams will spell all the words in the preliminary round (around 10-15 words, think words like “hygge”). One team takes home the title of CLE Bee Champion! Funding from this event supports the mission of The Literacy Cooperative, which is to advance literacy through raising awareness, advocating for public support of literacy initiatives, and strengthening the network to improve literacy across the lifespan.

If interested in being on our team or joining the event as a spectator please let the Rotary office know as soon as possible.

American Red Cross Blood Donor Day, August 8, 2024
The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage
  • The nation faces the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years. Blood and platelet donations are needed now to help alleviate the shortage and ensure lifesaving medical procedures are not delayed.
  • Over the last 20 years, the number of people donating blood to the Red Cross has fallen by more than 40%.
  • Additional challenges lie ahead as winter weather and seasonal illnesses like the flu and COVID-19 may compound the dire blood supply situation the nation currently faces.
  • Blood products are currently going to hospitals faster than blood donations are coming in. In recent weeks, the Red Cross has had to limit distributions of some of the most transfused blood types to hospitals.
  • Make an appointment to give blood or platelets now by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visitingRedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
