Bruce Hennes
Chief Executive Officer
Hennes Communications

From sexual misconduct, accusations of fiscal or legal mismanagement, labor issues and board chair-executive director disputes to DEI controversies, product failures, mergers and acquisitions, cyberattacks and active shooter situations, we live in a 24-minute news cycle, where everyone is instantly capable of posting their problem or complaint directly to Facebook, which often results in a story in the media.  It’s a simple fact: Controversies today are tried in the Court of Public Opinion more often than in the Court of Law.

The skill set attorneys, accountants, CEO’s, managing partners, health care, education and nonprofit executives, safety forces and government leaders need to defend their companies and organizations is different from the one that put them into the C-Suite. And while PR/marketing people may be great at business-to-business activities and retaining market share, crisis communications and issues management demand different strategies, especially when executives turn to their attorneys who are, by training, risk-averse and who too often counsel “no comment.”

“Reputation” is an organization’s largest uninsured asset.  Since it takes a lifetime to build a reputation and only a few seconds to destroy one, crisis communications is a necessary skill set for senior executives, government officials and safety forces.

This fast-paced talk by veteran crisis management and communications specialist Bruce Hennes, from Hennes Communications in Cleveland, Ohio, focuses on a highly strategic approach to communicating, offering methods for establishing and maintaining “control of the message,” enabling leaders to emerge from a crisis situation with a reputation that is intact or possibly enhanced.
